But Also A Forest – silent book

But Also A Forest is a silent book about moss. The book was inspired by a particularly stunning moss colony that I saw on my walk, and it first started as a series of illustrations exploring the ability of mosses to live on surfaces uninhabitable to other plants and to transform them into strange otherworldly landscapes. But then the project developed into a visual story with the moss as the protagonist, following its first meeting with a girl who stops by to admire it in the park and then the moss's long journey to find this girl again. The silent book format seemed particularly fitting for a story set in the silent world of mosses.
